If we approach things in a certain simplistic manner, we end up with irreconcilable differences and irreducible conflict … and that means war, of some sort.

But if we humanize the issues … if we explore what matters and why, as though the others really are our neighbors (which they are) we end up with not just the beginning of a solution, not just a better appreciation of them, but a deeper apprecation of ourselves.

  1. Not only are "right and left" outdated political/social concepts so are "liberal/conservative." I have no immediate replacements but these are simply ineffective at communicating positions or beliefs.
